Boba Fett may be one of the most surprisingly developedStar Warscharacters in the franchise’s recent years, having moved from a bounty hunter of few words in the original trilogy to effectively the adoptive father of an entire Tatooine city by the end ofThe Book of Boba Fetton Disney Plus. So it should be no surprise that actor Temuera Morrison wants to continue in the role for as long as he’s able.
Morrison started playing the bounty hunter Jango Fettandthe entire clone army created from Jango’s genes inStar Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones. So when it was time to bring the belovedBoba Fett back duringThe Mandalorianseason 2, it seemed like a no-brainer for Morrison to play the role. He proved to be a success with critics and fans alike, leading to his own series. But now that the character’s future is uncertain, fans wonder what to expect. Well, if Morrison has anything to say about it, more will come.

During a recent autographing appearance at the London Film and Comic Con (viaStar WarsNews Net), Morrison spoke about his plans for the near future. Morrison seemingly had a goal regarding Boba Fett before the SAG-AFTRA actors' strike began. “There’s a few things happening in LA. I’m gonna stop by LA on my way home to New Zealand just to have a catch up and see what’s happening in the galaxy,” he said. He was then asked whether there were plans for a second season ofThe Book of Boba Fett, and his answer was hopeful. “This is why I was gonna pop up and see what’s going on, and verify they’re not gonna put me on a shelf.”
Morrison is admirably willing to champion for his role as Boba Fett to keep the character returning. But it looks like another fan-favorite may return as well. Timothy Olyphant, who is currently reprising his famous role asU.S. Marshal Raylan Givens inJustified: City Primeval, recently spoke toRolling Stone(before the strike) about his own time inStar Wars, and it looks like he’d be up for a return as well. “I’ve enjoyed that,” he said of the role and his general typecasting as a smooth “cowboy” type. “I don’t know if it’s a cash grab or I’m just getting lazy, but I’m OK playing the greatest hits right now.”
Olyphant first appeared inThe Mandalorianas anestablishedStar Warscharacter Cobb Vanth, a local sheriff type, who came across Boba Fett’s armor and used it to help protect his small town on the Tatooine outskirts. Naturally, Boba eventually got his armor back, but that didn’t stop Cobb from serving as his settlement’s protector. Unfortunately, a run-in with feared bounty hunter Cad Bane left him teetering on the edge of death in a bacta tank, prompting fans to wonder whether he’d ever return. But it seems Olyphant would likely have no objections to the idea.
Of course, with theSAG-AFTRA actors and the writers' strike, many projects are completely on hold now, and for good reason. As great as it would be to see Boba Fett and Cobb Vanth again soon, it’s more important that the people who bring those characters to life are paid fairly. It’s unknown how long the strike will last. But hopefully, it will end with the actors and writers having their needs met. Plus, a longer wait will make the return of these beloved characters feel all the more satisfying.
