Summary
The ship builder inStarfieldallows players to build just about anything, as aStar Warsfan attempted to recreate Darth Maul’s iconic Scimitar. Though there is a gameplay benefit to making a well-designed ship inStarfield, many players use it as a vehicle to construct replicas of their favorite starships. Attempting to recreate theMillennium Falcon inStarfieldwas one of the first obsessions of its community, and soon after, the game saw impressive designs of an X-Wing, Slave One, and even a Star Destroyer as well.
Star Warshasn’t been the only sci-fi franchise to receive this treatment fromStarfieldfans, as players have also attempted tobuild a Borg Cube fromStar Trek, a Wraith fromStarCraft, and Serenity fromFirefly. The robust ship-making tools have managed to make all these aesthetically-different designs blend seamlessly withStarfield’s art direction. From the frontier feel of Akila City, to the cyberpunk tone of Neon, the visuals are varied enough that no starship would feel out of place.

For aasteranian, the ship they attempted to design was Darth Maul’s Scimitar, which saw the majority of its screen-time inThe Phantom Menace. While the silhouette of the ship is a match, there are two key differences that set aasteranian’s design from the original: the shape of its wings, and the cockpit. Whereas the Scimitar has foldable wings that subtly allude to the TIE Fighter and Jedi Starfighter models, thisStarfieldrecreation has flat wings that are rotated by 90 degrees, as well as a much wider cockpit.
The design is suitably intimidating, and would feel right at home in the hands of a Ryujin Industries corporate agent. Though the ship builder offers plenty of freedom, it is still restricted by the number of modules that players can install. More ambitious undertakings such as Star Destroyers are only capable throughStarfieldmods, but thankfully the Scimitar can be made using just the base game tools.
Given that official mod support forStarfieldisn’t due to arrive until 2024, it may take some time before the ship builder receives an upgrade. That being said, many players still consider it to be one of the best features inStarfield, and have spent a large amount of hours trying to create that perfect ship design. The inevitableStar Warstotal conversion mods will no doubt make some of these vessels more complete, asStormtroopers inStarfieldare already roaming the Settled Systems.
Starfieldis available now on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
