Summary

An observantStarfieldfan found a planet with four different environmental biomes in the game. As players around the world exploreStarfield’s vast solar system, this discovered planet proves that some planets have a ton of variety to them.

Before Bethesda’s epic space adventure hit the shelves, promotional materials for the game stated thatStarfieldwould have over a thousand planetsthat players could explore. Naturally, this led to some skepticism from Bethesda fans, with many wondering how different each planet could truly be in the game. Now thatStarfieldis out, it’s common knowledge that most of the planets in the game are procedurally generated and that most have one or two environmental biomes. Much like theStar Warsuniverse,Starfield’s solar system is filled with planets that are all sand or are all swamp and so on.

Thanks to some planetary exploration from Reddit user lavabendingfirelord, it turns out that not everyplanet inStarfield’s solar systemsticks to this pattern. On theStarfieldsubreddit, lavabendingfirelord posted four gameplay images that appear to be from different worlds but are all on the same one. In the first image, the environment is full of tall, highly saturated red grass and trees reminiscent of Earth’s autumn season. The second picture showcases another grassy area, but this time, it’s thin patches of green grass surrounded by trees that can be found in some areas of Africa. The third image features a desert-like environment with spiky-looking bushes and a hazy blue sky. The final picture encapsulates a dense foggy forest.

These images were taken on a planet inStarfieldcalled Cassiopeia 1in the ETA Cassiopeia system. Cassiopeia 1 is a Rock-type planet with a ton of natural resources and a safe water level. There are no moons surrounding Cassiopeia 1, just eight other planets in the system, all named Cassiopeia with a number variation.

Some of the comments in the post revealed that many players didn’t realize thatsome planets inStarfieldhave multiple biomes. One commenter named PlentyComfortable734 estimates that there are about 10 or so planets in the game with more than one or two environments. SomeStarfieldplayers were not so impressed by this discovery due to how exploration is handled in the game. In order to see the different biomes on these planets, the player must use their ship to land on the different parts of each world. For these players, there’s no difference between landing on another area of the planet and landing on a separate world altogether.

Starfieldis available now on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
