Updated August 02, 2025, By Christopher Norman Worcester:Now that players have had time to thoroughly explore Starfield, there is a need to expand our coverage of the game’s biggest topics of inquiry. This update will provide players with a video that expands on the best locations to store overflow resources.
Inventory management is an important aspect ofStarfield, and players may find themselves in need of additional storage not long after starting the game. Indeed, while it is ideal to place resources in ship cargo holds and outposts, those options may not fully cover a player’s storage needs initially. Fortunately, there are several easily-accessible containers that provide unlimited storage inStarfield, and this guide details how fans can go about finding them.
Starfield: Unlimited Item Storage Location
Players that are looking for a place where they can store items in large quantities should set their sights on working throughStarfield’sOne Small Step mission. For full clarity, this is the game’s first main quest, and it will lead fans directly to theLodgein New Atlantis. Here, players will meet some members of Constellation, and they should speak withNoel(depicted above) after the initial conversation comes to a close.

Fans should now ask Noel about aplace to stay, prompting her to give a brief tour of the Lodge. This tour concludes in front of a door that leads into theStarfieldprotagonist’s new room, and asafethat can hold an unlimited number of items can be found within it. This safe can be seen in the following image, and fans should feel free to fill it with anything that is not of immediate use.
There are alsotwostorage boxesin the Lodge’sbasementthat have no mass limit, and their proximity to an assortment of workbenches may make them even better options than the bedroom safe. To reach those boxes,Starfieldplayersshould return to the Lodge’s foyer, pass through the locked door that is underneath the stairs, and follow the path into the basement. Fans should then walk through the room that is filled with workbenches, and they will find one unlimited storage box on a table in the next room and the other on a desk in the small bedroom to the left.
One final thing to mention is that while the unlimited storage containers in the Lodge can certainly be very useful, they do have one major drawback. Specifically, they arenot linked to workbenches, which means that players will need to manually collect the resources that they need from the containers when they want to do somecrafting inStarfield. Notably, this is not the case with resources that are stored in ship cargo holds and outposts, and fans should thus plan to move their frequently-used resources to those locations when possible.
Starfieldis available now on PC and Xbox Series X.
