As of January 21, early access has begun for the popularPokemon-like MMOTemtem.Similar toPokemon,Temtemtakes place in a world that is populated with a wide-array of creatures, and each belongs to its respective “type.” These types are often related to the elements found in nature, and as such they come with their own sets of strengths and weaknesses.
The advantages and disadvantages associated with each Temtem are wide ranging. Mastery of these creatures and their respective strengths and weaknesses will be essential for anyone interested in conquering the world ofTemtem. And whileTemtemmay possess many features similar to any installment of thePokemonfranchise, the intricacies and various complexities of types still warrant a second look.

The Types
EveryTemtembelongs to a specific type, which will define and determine their techniques and properties. Type can beinfluenced by things like breeding, for example, but anyTemtemcaught in the wild will belong to a type. The strengths and weaknesses associated with each type will typically come down to the match-up in question. Each and everyTemtemcan possess up to two types. The techniques ofTemtem, however, can only have up to one type.
The type of any givenTemtemwillcertainly show in its design. Most of all, it will determine how much damage it will give and receive from another specific type. Meanwhile, the type of a technique can determine how effective aTemtemis against another type ofTemtem.
The 12 types ofTemteminclude: Neutral, Fire, Water, Nature, Electric, Earth, Mental, Melee, Toxic, Digital, Wind, and Crystal.
Advantages and Disadvantages
From the very beginning of the game, theTemtemthat players start withwill belong to a type. As noted above,Temtemwill match strongly against some and weaker against others, dependent entirely on the types in question. If the match-up is favorable for a player’s givenTemtem, then the attack will do double damage. If there is no advantage in the match-up, it is considered a neutral hit, which will do normal damage. If the match-up is unfavorable to the player, then the creature will only do half damage.
It gets complicated, however, when theTemtemin question belongs to two types. When aTemtembelongs to two types, both of the types must be taken into consideration when it comes to evaluating the effectiveness of an attack. For example, if a technique would be very effective against both types of aTemtem, then the damage following the use of that technique would multiply substantially by four times.
If the move is ineffective against both types, however, it would only do one quarter of the normal damage, and result in a very ineffective attack. Finally, if theTemtemin question is very effective against one type of the opposingTemtem, but weak against the opposingTemtem’s other type, then the resulting power of the attack will instead be neutralized, and result with normal damage.
If players master the art of types inTemtem, they will likely go far. Below is a chart that should helpTemtemfans better understand which creatures of their lineups will fare best against others.
Understanding the Chart
While the above chart can be understandably challenging to comprehend, the resulting combat system, with its various intricacies and implications from the type system is in a sense like a game of rock, paper, scissors, but with a bit of added complexity. It is unclear currently if the developers at Cremaplan to introduce new types in the future.
If a defendingTemtemis considered as having a weakness to the type it is fighting, then the damage multiplier against it will be greater than 1x. Vice versa, theTemtemin question will be considered to have a resistance to the type of Temtem it is combating if the resulting multiplier is below the 1x mark.
Similar to the balancing of Pokemon, afire typeTemtemwill take 2x damage from a water typeTemtem, resulting in a “weakness” verdict against the water type. Vice versa, water will possess a resilience against the fire type, and result in a damage multiplier of .5x, and thus indicate the resistance to that type. Players interested in skipping the above chart should keep this in mind if they choose to conduct their own research on the field.
Temtemplayers should bear in mind that the complexities become increasingly difficult to map once they begin facingTemtemthat belong to two types.Temtemplayers who are therefore looking to go all the way should take a note from the Pokemon playbook, anddiversify the types of their lineupto better prepare for the challenges awaiting them.
Temtemwill launch on Steam for early access starting August 04, 2025.
