Thanks to an ever-expanding list of weapons in the game, players will never be short of guns (provided they know where to find them!) to helpkeep them safe from the infectedand other players. Given the size and vast areas of the maps in the base game, hostile encounters can sometimes take place over distances that would render a humble handgun useless.

5KA 101
The Jack Of All Trades
The first of two weapons on this list utilizing the KA platform; the KA 101 is a great all-rounder firearm. Chambered in the intermediate 5.56x45 cartridge, which offers a decent level of penetration. It alsohas a great list of attachmentsthat can be used depending on play style. These attachments come in the form of multiple scopes, muzzles, buttstocks, and handguards.
Where To Find The KA 101
The KA 101 can be found in high-tier loot areas and would make a great addition to a late-game loadout. 5.56 ammunition is plentiful, so players wielding this weapon shouldn’t have too hard a time keeping locked and loaded. The only real drawback to the KA 101 is the lack of magazines, with just one 30-round magazine available.
4KA-M
Versatile And Powerful
The slightly bigger brother of the KA 101, the KA-M delivers a good level of stopping power with its 7.62x39 ammunition, resulting in easily knocked-out foes, especially when used in full auto mode. Available attachments are the same as seen with the KA 101, with an additional 75-round magazine that effectively turns this assault rifle into a light machine gun.
Where To Find The KA-M
Found in high-tier loot areas, the KA-M is a versatile weapon with many uses. Attach a 4x scope with a silencer tosnipe foes from a distance, or use a Kobra sight paired with a 75-round drum mag and a player will be unmatched in close-range encounters.
Elegance Meets Lethality
The stylish AUR AX is a bullpup-designed assault rifle that performs well in a wide range of situations. Chambered in 5.56x45, this rifle is one of the more powerful weapons inDayZutilizing that ammunition type, and in addition, it is extremely accurate too. The AUR AX can be attached with all NATO optics and sights, as well as multiple other attachments, such as magazines ranging from a forgettable 10-round mag to the much-desired coupled 60-round mag.

The AUR isa very rare weaponthat can be found in high-tier loot areas. This rarity is for good reason, as the high damage coupled with great accuracy and range makes this assault rifle easily one of the best in the game, and definitely worth picking up!
A Sniper In An Assault Rifle’s Clothing
Officially labeled as a battle rifle, the LAR can’t help but find its way onto this list with its select fire capabilities (Semi-auto and full-auto), and ability to attach NATOoptics and sights. Where the LAR stands out is its .308 WIN ammunition, which is mainly only seen in sniper rifles. This means that this weapon easily outperforms any of the others on this list when it comes to power, and other players can be taken out in one to two shots, regardless of armor.
Where To Find The LAR
The LAR can be quite hard to find as it only spawns in dynamic events, such as helicopter crashes and convoys. If a player is lucky enough to find one, the rest of the server had better run and hide! The LAR can be attached with the aforementioned NATO sights and scopes, including the brilliant x6 ATOG. Other attachments are limited, with only a couple of buttstocks to choose from, and just one 20-round magazine.
Terrifying Rate Of Fire
Coming in as the best assault rifle inDayZis the M4-A1. Being in the standalone game since launch, this assault rifle has long been afavorite among players, thanks to its extremely high rate of fire and accuracy. Considering how quickly bullets can be fired, it’s a good thing the M4-A1 is chambered in the easily found 5.56x45 ammunition. In addition, it can also be modified with a huge number of attachments depending on the situation.
Where To Find The M4-A1
It will be no surprise to learn that the M4-A1 is one of the hardest guns to find, only being spawned in static contaminated zones, such as Rify and Pavlovo Military Base in Chernarus, or Radunin and Lukow Airfield in Livonia. This means that in order to try to track one down, a player first needs to find a full set of NBC gear to survive the toxic gas zones, but rest assured, tenacious players will be rewarded for their effort!
