The Exotic class item inDestiny 2is one of the hottest new farmable items in the game. In order to unlock the item, players will need to firstunlock the Dual Destiny Exotic mission, run through it once, and pick up the rewards at the end. For a breakdown of the various perks available for each class, you’re able to check this general guide on class items. For class-specific breakdowns of the best combinations, consider checking out the best combos forTitans,Hunters, andWarlocks.
With 64 different perk combinations available for each class, getting the right combo is going to take a while. The only solution is to farm the class item, which can be done in two different ways. Keep in mind that Bungie may implement changes to drop rates and farming methods soon based on community feedback, so the information here is likely to change going forward. As of now, here’s what to do to maximize class item drops inDestiny 2.
Method 1: Play Dual Destiny
With Or Without The Double Loot Exploit
The guaranteed method to get one class item drop every 25 to 30 minutes is torun the Dual Destiny Exotic mission. If players maximize their loadouts and are efficient throughout each encounter, the mission will take at most around 30 minutes to clear. Since it’s an Exotic mission, there are no checkpoints and the activity needs to be started from the beginning after each completion.
Previously,an exploit allowed players to pick up the class item at the end of the mission twiceif both players were running the same class. While Bungie patched this initial exploit, another one has surfaced recently, thanks to Rythm. This method takes a bit more setting up to do, but if optimized, it technically only takes about 6 additional minutes to do for a second class item drop according to him.
Method 2: Open Pale Heart Chest
With Or Without A Macro
When players have completed Dual Destiny once, class items have a small chance of dropping from any Pale Heart chest. Currently, this drop chance is floating around the 2% mark, with every 40-50 opened chests in the Pale Heart dropping a class item. This is assuming that players don’t get unlucky, as some report having to open close to 100 chests before receiving their next drop.
The best spot to farm chests is The Landing in the Pale Heart. When you spawn in, wait for a couple of seconds for a white flash and a screen-shake effect. This indicates that chests have spawned up. verify to have the Wombo Detector Ghost mod on and keep an eye out for chest symbols as you follow this route:
Though not shown on this particular path, special chests like Expunging and Stitching, as well as high-value target chests are also worth opening during your rotation.
After collecting all of the chests (typically, 4 or 5 of them in one round will spawn up), fast-travel back to The Landing on your map, and wait for the same white flash again. If players have a Skimmer, an Eager Edge sword, and a StrandGrappleability available, going around opening these chests will be much faster.
Alternatively, players can run a macro to farm a single chest in The Landing. This is extremely handy as it prevents you from burning out from the grind and doesn’t require you to actually control your character. For a comprehensive breakdown of how this works, check out SevenOilRig’s guide here:
