The First Descendantis a typical looter shooter with a few non-conventional mechanics such as a grappling hook. Players can kill enemies, get loot, and repeat. For weapons, there are eleven types in the game including Assault Rifles, Shotguns, Handguns, and more. There are also four ammo types in the games with Handguns having General Rounds for ammunition for example.
With so many weapon types to gather inThe First Descendantand with so many being randomized, it can be hard to know which to main. These six picks may not be what every player gravitates toward, but they are certainly among the best.
6Hand Cannon
Say Hello To My Little Friend
Hand Cannons use Impact Rounds which are designated by a green coloration. There are two types of side arms in the game with the aforementioned Hand Cannons being one and the other being Handguns. Handguns are useful as they can carry more rounds and typical fire burst rounds like Assault Rifles. They are faster, in other words, but less accurate.
Hand Cannons, on the other hand, fire one shot at a time. They are basically like magnum revolvers which are typicallyhigh-powered weapons in shooters. While they are slower to the draw compared to Handguns, their stopping power and accuracy make them more attractive in combat especially up close and personal.
5Shotgun
A Burst Of Power
Shotguns are a classic weapon type in shootersand sometimes inThe First Descendant, they are stylized as ShotGuns. Round capacity is usually less than ten and the ammo type is called High-Powered Rounds which are colored purple. High-Powered Rounds are the rarest in the game which makes sense as these types of weapons are generally the strongest.
It’s a bit weird that Shotguns fall under this category as they are more common in other shooters. However, the burst power and area spread are different enough to make them feel like mini-cannons not unlike Hand Cannons. They are also slower meaning that players need to make every blast count. As is the case in most shooters with shotguns, the closer players are, the greater the damage will be.
4Launcher
Taking Out Groups Of Enemies
Launchers are another type of weapon that uses High-Power Rounds. The name may mislead some into thinking they are stand-ins for rocket launchers likein other shooters. Instead, they are more like grenade launchers but with a lot more oomph.
Players can prep their Launcher before firing and a dome will appear. This is the area of effect and every enemy within that dome will take damage. The power levels are high, so Launchers are best used against large clusters of enemies or bosses.
3Beam Rifle
Go Piccolo On Their Butts
Beam Rifles use Special Rounds which look copper in color. These types of weapons are also pretty strong but ammo isn’t as scarce for Special Rounds. Beam Rifles need a bit to charge up but when they fire, it will be one continuous beam until the forty or so rounds give out.
With a cartridge change, players can blast another ozone layer into an enemy. It’s kind of likePiccolo’s Special Beam Cannon from theDragon Ballseriesin nature. Beam Rifles are a little less powerful than Piccolo of course but still pretty brutal. They are great versus bosses or enemies with big plates of armor or shields.
2Assault Rifle
A Standard Of Shooters Can’t Get Better
Assault Rifles are one of the most common weapon typesin shooter gamesand for good reason. They fire a good burst of rounds, are reliable, and they come in all varieties. The same is true inThe First Descendantand they use General Rounds meaning there is plenty of ammo lying around.
Most Assault Rifles can carry around thirty rounds and have a medium amount of power to get most players through deadly waves of enemies. There are stronger rifle-like weapons with more ammo such as Machine Guns and Submachine Gun. Those are both good choices, but Assault Rifles generally have better accuracy.
1Scout Rifle
A Scoped Kill Is A Safe Kill
Scout Rifles use Impact Rounds like Hand Cannons. They can fire a strong burst of continuous rounds at enemies just like Assault Rifles. However, unlike Assault Rifles, Scout Rifles benefit from getting scope attachments. Players can switch into first-person mode to becomea deadly sniper.
A great idea would be to grapple onto a high ledge to snipe enemies from above with the game’s excellentgrappling hook feature. There are also literal Sniper Rifles in the game, but they use High-Power Rounds making them harder to use. Scout Rifles have all the benefits of an Assault Rifle and then some with the only setback being the ammo count being slightly less. Overall, these weapons are great to have.
