WhenResident Evil 4 VRwas released many fansnoted the lack of The Mercenaries and Ada’s Separate Waysmodes that are usually unlocked following the completion of the game. However, a now unlisted video on the Oculus YouTube channel has revealed that The Mercenaries will be coming toResident Evil 4 VRin Q2 2022.

The Mercenaries is a popular mode that has made appearances in many entries in the series, with the mode first being included inResident Evil 3: Nemesis. In The Mercenaries, players defeat waves of enemies in an arcade-style mode that takes place in different locations from the game and allows the player to take control of different characters that appeared in the story.

InResident Evil 4’s The Mercenaries, players are able to fight across four stages from the main game while taking control of Leon Kennedy, Ada Wong, Jack Krauser, Albert Wesker, and HUNK. The Mercenaries is notable for including the Handcannon weapon, the Giant Chainsaw Man enemy, and HUNK as a playable character, marking one of the only times that the Umbrella hired mercenary is playable in aResident Evilgame.

With the announcement video being accidentally revealed early, it is likely that the mode will be officially revealed by Oculus very soon, however, there was no mention of Separate Ways being added to the game. Separate Ways sees the player take control of Ada and see the gameplay through her eyes, as well as helping to unlock more files tofurther expandResident Evil 4’s story. With The Mercenaries not being released until Q2 2022, it is possible that Separate Ways could be released at a later date, but neither Oculus nor Capcom has hinted at this so far.

Resident Evil 4 VRis available now on Oculus Quest 2.
