The 23-secondThor: Love and Thunderclip begins with Hemsworth’s Thor in a battle scene, calling out to Mjolnir. The town around him is burning and warriors are seen slashing each other with swords and spears, but Thor’s focus is on his trusted hammer. He calls out to it as pet owners would their dogs, whistling and screaming, “here boy.” When he finally sees it in the crowd, his eyes begin to sparkle and a smile appears on his face. He reaches out to grab it and time suddenly slows down, with him celebrating and speaking his dialogue, “you’re back,” in slow motion. Unfortunately, the reunion never happens, as Mjolnir flies off to its new owner.

The excitement that Thor felt at finally finding Mjolnir fades away and he looks utterly confused when thehammer is held by Portman’s Mighty Thor. He is obviously stunned that Portman has returned, in addition to the fact that somebody else is worthy of holding Mjolnir. The entire scene has hilarious undertones and only goes on to further confirm that the film will be following in the footsteps ofThor: Ragnarokand taking the comedy route.

The previously releasedThor: Love and Thundertrailershave shown that the God of Thunder will be going on a path of self-discovery. With the help of the Guardians of the Galaxy, he will be seeking to rebuild his world, which Portman’s Jane Foster was once a part of.Thor: RagnarokandAvengers: Endgamehave already established the hero as more human, as he grieves the loss of his loved ones, and the upcomingThor: Love and Thunderaims to build on that further.
