The fourth installment of theThorfranchise will provide a glimpse into the past. New photos from the set ofThor: Love and Thundershow one of Marvel’s favorite couples reunited.
Jane Foster and Thor haven’t been seen together sinceThor: The Dark World, and that is set to change in the upcomingThor: Love and Thundermovie. A new set of Twitter photos reveal that Thor and Jane will appear on-screen together in what appears to be a flashback to a previousThorfilm.

The thread of photos consists of Jane and Thor smiling and holding hands as they walk down the street, occasionally stopping to look into a store. In a few of the shots, Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman are seen talking withThor: Love and Thunderdirector Taika Waititi. Throughout the photos, Jane wears a pale green romper as Thor sports dark jeans and a matching dark jacket. Thor’s hair is also long, as opposed to the new short style he has sported sinceThor: Ragnarok, meaning this apparent date scene with Jane is likely a flashback fromDark World.
Two of these photos stand out a bit more than the others. As opposed to merely walking down the street, two photos show Jane and Thor looking at rings.The rings are visibleon the jewelry counter perched slightly in front of them as they stand facing them. One of the photos even has Thor holding Jane’s right hand, almost as if he were going to slip one of the rings on her finger. Of course, the traditional finger to wear a wedding ring on is on the left hand, but given the history of their relationship, the mere sighting of these rings is surprising and slightly heartbreaking.
InThor: Ragnarok, it is revealed that Thor and Jane are no longer together. There isn’t very much elaboration on how that came about, but the breakup still appears to be a sore spot for Thor to discuss. ByAvengers: Infinity WarandEndgame, the relationship with Jane has not gotten any better, especially after she was one of the people who were lost during Thanos' snap. Now thatThor: Love and Thunderwill be such a pivotal piece of Jane’s story, especiallyas she becomes Lady Thor, Marvel Studios will have to answer lingering questions about their relationship and what happened between them. As these photos suggest, things between Jane and Thor were awfully serious, given that they were looking at rings.
An alternate ending forThor: The Dark Worldoffers a glimpse of how their relationship may have come to an end. Essentially, Jane didn’t want to abandon her life on Earth to be entirely useless on Asgard and she couldn’t allow Thor to throw away his birthright as King of Asgard. Virtually, the reasons the alternate ending provides are because of the different lives they lead. Given the state of how their worlds will collide once again inThor: Love and Thunder, fate may have other ideas for the Marvel couple.
Thor: Love and Thunderwill be released in theaters on June 06, 2025.
