Filming on Marvel’s upcoming filmThor: Love and Thunderhas completed, as confirmed by the God of Thunder himself. Chris Hemsworth shared the update on his social media account, along with an image of himself posing with director Taika Waititi, who is seen dressed up as rock monster Korg.
“That’s a wrap onThor: Love and Thunder,” reads the caption, which has fans excited because this means the project is closer to completion and should be able to meet its release date of May 2022. With shooting having wrapped, the fourth installment in theThorfranchise has joined the list of multiple projects currently in post-production at Marvel Studios.

Hemsworth confirmed that the upcomingThorfilm will be “off the wall funny and might also pull a heartstring or two,” something fans have come to expect from the franchise. While the first film adapted the route of a Shakespearean drama,The Dark Worldlost the attention of many fans due to its lack of humor. This was sorted out in2017’sThor: Ragnarok, which had the right amount of humor intertwined with action and drama, making it the most popular film in theThorfranchise.

He refers to himself and Hemsworth as two people who are “too cool to care about anything except making movies that bring people absolute joy.” That is one thing that fans will definitely agree with, as Waititi’sThor: Ragnarokwas truly a joy to watch. And if Hemsworth’s words are to be believed,Thor: Love and Thunderwill be even funnier.
The black and white image might have confirmed thatThor: Love and Thunderhas wrapped filming, but one thing that had fans even more excited was Hemsworth’s ripped physique. Before production onThor: Love and Thunderbegan, Hemsworth had shared input on his fitness regime to prepare for the film, and it has obviously done wonders.In typical Hemsworth fashion, the actor joked about it being “national don’t flex day” and sharing a “relaxed photo.” But, fans aren’t relaxing over how fit Hemsworth is looking, includingfellow Marvel star Simu Liu, who joked about how he himself needs to “get in shape” after seeing the picture.
Hemsworth and Waititi star inThor: Love and Thunderalong with other actors returning to reprise their respective roles, including Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie andNatalie Portman as Jane Foster. Christian Bale has joined the cast and will be seen playing the main villain, Gorr the God Butcher. Russell Crowe will also be making a cameo and is confirmed to be playing the role of Zeus.
Thor: Love and Thunderis scheduled to release in theaters on June 25, 2025.
