Nowadays, he may not be the biggest anime in music, but there are plenty of reasons why the legendary Kenny Loggins might be forever etched in the minds of movie fans and gamers alike. Now, it seems like the musician would really love to have another go at his DJ gig inGrand Theft Auto 6.
Loggins appeared inGrand Theft Auto5in 2013 as the voice behind Los Santos Rock Radio, a perennial favorite ofGTAplayers and the station that features several classics from the ’70s and ’80s, including hisTop Gunbanger “Danger Zone.” It was while promoting the digital release of the sequel to that movie,Top Gun: Maverick, when Loggins caught up withComicBook.comto address his willingness to return as the curator of ’70s and ’80s rock forGTA 6if given the opportunity.

Speaking on whether he’d reprise his role, Loggins said, “I hope so! It was just a lot of fun.” He also commented that he was initially hesitant to take the job because he wasn’tfamiliar with theGTAfranchiseand was worried about the perceived negativity of video game violence that surrounds Rockstar’s biggest IP. Nevertheless, he claims it was actually his children who convinced him to land in Los Santos, explaining, “They said ‘Dad, it doesn’t matter. It’s inextricable from the social phenomenons [sic] that are happening now. This is part of social history.” Loggins added that he loves the hilarious and smart writing in the games.
Suffice to say, this far from guarantees that Loggins will again be featured inGTA 6. After all, it’s a game that’s already mysterious enough as it is, but one that is rumored totake a trip to Vice Cityinstead of the LA-inspired Los Santos. In case Loggins can’t book a trip to Rocktar’s next fictional city, the studio could still use some of his songs, asGTA 5already featured “I’m Free” and “What a Fool Believes,” with the latter being The Doobie Brothers cover instead of the original written by him.
None of Loggins’ music isfeatured inTop Gun: Maverick, although the artist did record a new version of “Danger Zone” for the sequel that went unused. The original did make it into the film’s soundtrack, along with Lady Gaga and OneRepublic’s singles. Seeing asGTA 6won’t be released until well into 2024, it seems unlikely the game’s producers are tapping into what kind of music fits its setting better until more story details are ironed out.
Besides a new city, it’s been teased that the new game could feature the series’ first female protagonists in aGTABonnie and Clyde dynamic brimming with potential. WhenGrand Theft Auto 6will get further announcementsremains to be seen.
