Back to All Characters

The Traveler, who serves as the player character inGenshin Impact, ascends the same way as other playable characters, despite being from another world. However, they do have a special elemental stone that is unique to them and not used by anyone else. Additionally, they don’t use a boss drop like every other character.

While the Traveler can change between different elements, they’ll use the same materials to ascend no matter which element they’re currently equipped with. Read on for all the materials needed to ascend the Traveler!

Aether and Lumine

We typically combine ascension and talent upgrade guides in one post, but the Traveler’s talent upgrades are a bit more complicated than other playable characters, due to having access to multiple elements. For the Traveler’s talent guide, click here.

Leveling Materials

Even though they’re foreign to this world, the Traveler needs the same amount of EXP and Mora to reach level 90.

Traveler Ascension Items

Interestingly, the Traveler does not require any boss drops for ascension. So far, they’re the only character for whom this is the case. In turn, though, they require a unique gemstone that’s only used by them.

Gemstones - Where to Find Brilliant Diamonds

Brilliant Diamonds cannot be obtained from many of the sources that reward other elemental gemstones like boss drops and the Parametric Transformer. Instead, they can only be earned by leveling up one’s Adventure Rank and speaking to Katheryne at the Adventurers' Guild.

Unlike other elemental gems, Brilliant Diamonds cannot be crafted into higher qualities. Instead, Katheryne will award the player with the exact number they need to ascend the Traveler. Here are the numbers earned at each level that awards them:

1x Sliver

3x Fragment

2x Fragment

3x Chunk

2x Gemstone

Enemy Drop - Where to Find Hilichurl Masks

Hilichurls are found basically everywhere. However, only certain level Hilichurls can drop the higher quality Masks.

Note: Samachurls, Mitachurls, and Lawachurls all drop Hilichurl Masks as well.

Local Specialty - Where to Find Windwheel Asters

Despite not being specifically tied to one region, the Traveler does use a regional specialty to ascend: Windwheel Asters, a local specialty of Mondstadt.

These pinwheel-like flowers can be found around Statues of the Seven in Mondstadt, specifically the statues at Windrise and Dawn Winery. A handful can also be found dotted around Stormterror’s Lair.

A few extra can be grown or purchased. Growing them requires a Serenitea Pot and Windwheel Aster Seeds. Flora, the young lady who runs the flower shop in Mondstadt, will also sell them. She stocks five of them for 1,000 Mora each, and restocks every three days.
