The second season ofVinland Sagais much more serious than the first. It follows Thorfinn’s journey, but down a rather different path. Thorfinn was mainly focused on avenging in the first season, but in the subsequent season, he takes a different approach to life. He despises his past as a warrior and tries to stay as far away from fighting as possible. There are only a few episodes of the second season remaining, which means it won’t belong before Thorfinn’s adventureon Ketil’s farm comes to an end. In episode 20, fans saw Ketil’s recruits being torn apart by Canute’s superior Jomsvikings. Despite witnessing the slaughter before his eyes,Ketil remained unfazed andforced his men to keep fighting. Snake assessed the situation and called for a retreat, but this decision did not go down well with Ketil. He tried to motivate his men to keep pushing forward, but it did not work. Ketil was disturbed by the fact that he might lose everything, which caused him to be distracted. This gave a soldier the opportunity to land a serious blow to his body.
Elsewhere, Thorgil finally made his way toward Canute. From the very beginning, Thorgil’s plan was to let Ketil’s forces distract Canute and his army while he swam to the shore in hopes of murdering the king. Unfortunately for him, Canute was able to stand his ground until the king’s guard came back to defend him. Thorgil realized that he was not going to win, so he ran away.
The episode also featured the heartbreaking moment when Arnheid died because of her injuries. Ketil was solely responsible for her death, as he was the one who beat her up because he could not standArnheid going back to her husband. Before she passed away, Thorfinn told her about Vinland, a beautiful place with no wars or other evils. Following her death, Snake brought in Ketil, who was heavily wounded. Einar was bewildered to see the person responsible for the death of Arnheid, and he would have killed him if not for Thorfinn.

Release Date
Vinland Saga Season 2, Episode 21, is going to be released on June 17, 2025.The episode is titled “Courage,” and it will focus on Thorfinn as he tries to bring the war to an end without the loss of any more lives. Thorfinn wants to meet Canute, but it won’t be an easy task, especially considering Ketil’s behavior toward him. In order to secure an audience with Canute, Thorfinn will have to convince his army to let him through.
The episode will also give some screen time to Einar, who was crushed after Arnheid’s death. Einar loved her very much, and to see her die left him anguished. He truly cared about her happiness, and when Arnheid wanted to leave with her husband, Einar was supportive. It will be interesting to see how Einar is going to handle things while her killer still lives.
The episode will also coverthe confrontation between Thorgil andOlmar. The two brothers have a very different perspective on life. Thorgil is aggressive, and he loves killing and pillaging. He brings chaos wherever he goes. Olmar, on the other hand, is shy and kind. Despite being the polar opposite of his brother, Olmar tried to follow in his footsteps, but at one point he realized that he wasn’t cut out for that kind of life. In the upcoming episode, Olmar might finally tell his brother that he is done trying to imitate him, especially after witnessing the deaths of so many people. The war seems to have affected Olmar a lot, and somehow, in this chaos, he discovered his true self.
