Earning money can be tough inWartales, especially during the early game where there aren’t many profitableoptions for starting partiesto choose from. Even in the later stages, maintaining enough coin to provide for the warband’s needs can be tricky if players can’t manage their finances well enough.

Thankfully,Wartaleshas a few moneymaking methods that anyone can take advantage of at any point in a playthrough. Keep these following pointers in mind while doing quests and going on adventures, and the money will flow in no time—so much so that even the most expensive of parties will be able to afford everything they need.

Capture and Sell Outlaws

Clearing the countryside of criminals can be a very lucrative prospect. Players can earn hundreds of gold per in-game day using this method, but it has its fair share of pros and cons. First, players need to knowhow to take down and shackle enemy combatants. This process involves knocking out hostiles and escorting them to nearby prisons, where the resident warden is more than happy to take them in. The price of prisoners varies depending on their level, but players can only turn in three of them every 24 hours.

Keep in mind that onlyOutlawscan be sold. This group includes Bandits and Deserters. Players can check what faction an enemy party belongs to right before engaging them in combat. NPCs labeled as anything but Outlaws (such as Drunkards) will not be accepted by jailers.

Craft and Sell Lockpicks

One good way to make money very early in the game is to craftlockpicksand sell them to merchants. To craft these items, players need to have a character with theTinkerer profession. Set up camp anywhere on the map and interact with the Workshop. Next, select the Tinkerer and as many lockpicks as possible. Note that professions are separate fromthe actual character classesthat players get to pick at the beginning of a new playthrough.

This will set players back one Iron Ore per piece every time they craft, and each lockpick will sell for at least five gold. The best way to make this method profitable is to roam around the map and get Iron Ore manually by picking them off the ground or extracting them from mines. There’s a high chance that a single node will give more than one unit of Iron, making this an incredibly efficient way to make money.

Accept and Complete Contracts

Contracts are the bread-and-butter moneymakers of any mercenary group. The locals usually have problems with bandit gangs and other unsavory characters, and they’re willing to pay good money to any party who can solve their problems. Visit any inn and look for anemissaryinside. They’ll give players a list of available bounties that pay good coin. Harder missions reward even more money.

Once any of the jobs have been accepted, players will then need to travel to the mission area and do whatever the contract asks them to. Finish the job, return to the emissary, and claim the rewards. Any loot picked up from the contract’s combat encounter can also be sold for even more gold. Also, make sure to pick up any Iron and capture random Outlaws along the way to feed the first two moneymaking methods listed above to maximize efficiency.
