Destiny 2’sSeason of the Seraph has been an increasingly popular story that has taken players through different Heist Battlegrounds and into space on a Clovis Bray Orbital Station, with fans eventually obtaining an Exotic Pulse Rifle called Revision Zero. With twists and turns along the way,Destiny 2is building a narrative laying the groundwork for the release of Lightfall in February. With roughly 60 days left to Season of the Seraph, other lore should be shared to bridge the gap between Year 5 and Lightfall.

Season of the Seraph has primarily focused on rebuilding Rasputin - the Warmind believed to be made to protect humanity from all possible threats. Within the Season, the forces of the Hive God of War, Xivu Arath, along with Eramis, Kell of Darkness, have been attempting to possess thesubminds of Rasputinfor its knowledge and technological power. The story ramps up with the revelation that Clovis had deceived Ana, Osiris, and the Guardians and built Rasputin to replace the Traveler.

An Appearance by Xivu Arath

While her forces have been prominent in this and past Seasons ofDestiny 2, Xivu Arath has yet to appear in the game, save for flashbacks or through Hive lore. Season of the Lost did an excellent job bringing Xivu Arath’s forces into play when they attempted to thwart Queen Mara Sov from removing Savathun’s Worm. This story element transitioned perfectly to The Witch Queen, where it is eventually discovered thatSavathun did indeed succumb to her woundsand loss of Worm and died in the Traveler’s presence before being reborn with the Light.

With each of the Hive Gods receiving their expansion in theDestinyuniverse through The Taken King and The Witch Queen, Xivu Arath deserves a prominent presence in the story as a villain to overcome, something that Season of the Seraph could set up beautifully. This could be the case if the God of War plans a trap for the Light and Last City, repeating history that destroyed the Cabal homeworldof Torabatl.

Destiny 2 Neptune and Neomuna

More Information and Buildup to Neptune and Neomuna

Lightfall is set to take players to the new hidden city of Neomuna on Neptune, a neon cyberpunk city home to humans who have survived during or shortly after the Collapse. Season of the Seraph had begun to tease the Neptunian location through the warlock Osiris, who recovered from his coma at the end of Season of Plunder and had seen the city through Savathun’s mind when she possessed his body.

While the last few weeks ofSeason of the Seraphfocused on restoring Rasputin and revealing the betrayal from Clovis, Neptune is mentioned briefly as Osiris questions Rasputin’s knowledge of its location. To bridge the gap between Year 5 and Lightfall, information regarding Neptune and Neomuna should become more prevalent as the Season unfolds. Such information could detail how Neomuna managed to survive the Collapse and how it maintained its secrecy for so long.

This is especially true because, by the time Lightfall launches, it’s been implied thatEmperor Calus - now a Disciple of The Witness- has laid siege to the city with his army of Shadow Legions and entities called Tormentors, which The Witness commands. To set the stage for Lightfall’s release, players should learn more about Calus and obtain information on his preparations for the siege and what Neptune may hold that is important to the forces of Darkness.

Furthermore, the types of humans that dwell in Neomuna should be spread through the remainder of the Season of the Seraph. Themarketing for Lightfallhas detailed that Neomuna is guarded by the Cloud Striders, warriors who have undergone technological augmentations at the expense of longevity. Other technical aspects in this hidden city are worth setting up to be further explored in Lightfall.

Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
