On July 25, players will be able to experience asymmetric survivor horror titleDead by Daylightlike they never have before. First teased during the Anniversary livestream earlier in 2024, the long-awaited 2v8 mode is finally coming toDead by Daylight.In this new twist on the classic survival format, a team of eight survivors will need to take on two killers working together in tandem to sacrifice as many of them as possible to the dread Entity.
2v8 mode will debut inDead by Daylightbeginning on July 25 and will remain available through August 8. Players will be able to choose between all currently available survivors, five killers, and five size-adjusted maps. Following the limited run, the team at Behavior Interactive will use player feedback to continue adjusting and improving the gameplay mode.Dead by Daylighthead of production Stefan Beauchamp confirmed that the team’s ultimate goal is to make 2v8 mode a permanent part ofDead by Daylightin the future.
Beauchamp described the highly anticipated new game mode as “really focused on the fun and chaos of ten players in action at the same time.” Killer powers have been adjusted, hooks replaced with cages in which survivors can be imprisoned, andsurvivor perkshave been switched out for four classes which players can select at the beginning of the game. These classes allow players to focus more specifically on one role within the team: repairing generators, healing, escaping, or hiding and tracking the killer.
While all survivors will be available in the limited version of 2v8 mode, players will have five killers to select from:

Each killer has been given new Team Powers that either boost their teammates or enhance their own abilities when near their fellow killer. There will also be five maps available during 2v8 mode’s first limited availability:Azarov’s Resting Place, the Suffocation Pit, the Disturbed Ward, the Thompson House, andMother’s Dwelling. All maps have been made larger to accommodate the chaotic new mode.
