Map Fragments make a triumphant return inElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. When entering the Shadow Realm for the first time, the entire map will be hidden beneath a fog of war that will only lift after obtaining the fragment for the area, just like in the base game. After getting theGravesite Plains fragment, players may look southward next.
The Southern Shore Map Fragment is found on the Cerulean Coast, the southernmost area in the overworld, accessible by going through the Dragon’s Pit and the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion, located southeast of Castle Ensis. Here is how to get there.
Where to Find Southern Shore Map Fragment in SOTE
Starting from the Castle Front Site of Grace, take the winding road heading southeast until you reach the Pillar Path Waypoint Site of Grace.
Just north of here is the Pillars Path Cross Site of Grace with aScadutree Fragmentand the merchantThiollier.
Take the path bending southwest. It is lined on both sides by headless dragon statues to mark the path forward. The NPC just west of the Site of Grace isIgon, who has a quest related to Bayle The Dread, the local area boss. Continue onward, but be prepared to be invaded by an Ancient Dragon-Man. He spawns relatively far away from you, making him susceptible to ranged attacks.
The dragon statues will lead you to the entrance to theDragon’s Pit, a small dungeon you will need to clear in order to progress further south. Run through the dungeon by sticking to the left side at every turn to find the final room. There will be a large candle-lit altar with a wide chasm in the middle. Jump inside; the area below renders your character immune to fall damage.
Interact with the yellow mist to enter the boss room for theAncient Dragon-Man. Defeat him to receive theDragon Hunter’s Great Katanaas a reward and unlock the path forward.
Interact with the Dragon’s Pit Terminus Site of Grace and continue southeast to reach theGrand Altar of Dragon Communion. Climb on the gigantic Dragon’s corpse with Torrent and head directly southwest.
Proceed through the valley with red flowers to reach Charo’s Hidden Grave. Continue in the same direction until you reach a precipice overlooking a sea of blue flowers.
Jump on the giant stone ring (pictured above) to safely land in the valley below. Head in a straight line towards the edge of the cliff and look down. The map fragment stele will be just below.
If you’re in the Cerulean Coast area but are having trouble finding the fragment, look for the map fragment icon on the map. It will show up if you’re in the vicinity.
Interact with it to obtain the Southern Shore Map Fragment and unfog the bottom part of the map.
