Summary
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice Leaguehas suffered some brutal leaks in recent weeks. Not only has the plot of the game been spread across the internet as well as some music and out of context dialogue, but gamers now have an idea of what to expect from the game after launch. Supposedly,Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice Leaguewill be expanded via some intriguing ways to play after its release, like raids, a horde mode, and a multiplayer experience resemblingDestiny 2’s Gambit. However, what players have understandably focused on the most is potential new character additions like Killer Croc.
Killer Croc is just one of several new characters rumored to come to the game after release. Insider Miller Ross has hinted at Deathstroke, Killer Frost, and amysterious clown character forSuicide Squad: KTJL, among others. Still, it is Killer Croc that may be the most interesting potential addition purely because Rocksteady has already set such a high bar for the villain. With his previous Arkhamverse appearances being so memorable, fans will have high expectations for the character if he does actually end up making the cut.
Why Killer Croc Could Be a Challenge For Kill The Justice League
The Arkham Series Sets a High Bar For Killer Croc
Killer Croc left quite a mark onBatman: Arkhamfans from the very beginning, as he not only looked terrifying when Batman first locked eyes with him inArkham Asylum, but the sewer chase served as a major highlight of that game. After this genuinely scary debut, Croc continued to appear throughout the series and featured within the final game of the saga,Arkham Knight. In every appearance, his design felt like something out of a horror game, as he was genuinely terrifying and towered over theCaped Crusader. Not only will players be expecting Croc to look like he used to if he is added, but he will have to act as they expect and feel as powerful to control as he seemed to be during his fights with Batman.
Killer Croc Could Be Tough to Implement in Kill The Justice League’s Current Loop
While there is a chance that the datamined info involving Killer Croc was misinterpreted, as he could just be an NPC like Penguin or Poison Ivy, it does seem like he is on track to be playable. However, there are some pitfalls Rocksteady will have to consider if it really does want to add him. First, thoughKing Sharkbeing a large, Tank-style character means that Rocksteady will have designed areas around this kind of body type and can reuse some assets, there is also a risk of Croc playing too similarly to his fellow water-loving villain. If both characters use their sharp teeth for melee finishers, boast extra health, charge into combat, and so on, Croc could feel like a reskin of Shark. While melee attacks with his tail could make him feel a bit different, it is hard not to be concerned about the other parts of his kit feeling familiar.
Killer Croc lost his arm in theBatman: Arkhamgames, but it grows back, so perhapsSuicide Squadcould take advantage of his regenerative abilities. With an M-rating, Croc could grow and regrow parts of his body, using removed body pieces as weapons. Alternatively, he could just have a faster health regeneration speed than other characters that is improved further with upgrades.
The other big concern is that Killer Croc could feel out of place withinRocksteady’s Metropolis. With a lack of water around the city, it is hard to imagine him traversing the map using his signature method of movement, and he may end up with some generic wallruns and big jumps as a result (the latter of which King Shark already uses). Killer Croc’s massive size could also have the negative effect of weapons looking laughably small, and his previous focus on melee combat via his claws, teeth, and grab attacks could make the very sight of him using guns quite strange. Even his creepy appearance and personality could see him clashing tonally with the humorous Suicide Squad, and with the “straight man” comedy role already likely to be played by the rumored DLC addition Deathstroke, going that route could feel repetitive. While Killer Croc may still turn out to be a cool addition, making him work withinSuicide Squad: Kill The Justice Leaguewould be easier said than done.
