World of Warcraftjust debuted its official launch cinematic forDragonflight. Titled “Take to the Skies,” this beautiful cinematic shows off what awaits players inWorld of Warcraft: Dragonflightin high definition.
The new launch cinematic debuted duringWorld of Warcraft’spre-launch streamheld in celebration of the second phase of theDragonflightpre-patch. The short stream featured severalWorld of Warcraftdevelopers talking about what players could look forward to until theDragonflightlaunch.

The cinematic itself is a beautiful tour of the Dragon Isles, the new continent added inDragonflight. An Alliance dwarf and a Horde troll take to the skies on their dragon mount companions, engaging in a friendly race throughout the new zones inDragonflight. Then, Razageth the Storm Eater, the major antagonist and finalraid boss of the first raid inDragonflight, appears to terrorize the jockeys. The camera briefly pans to the dracthyr Scalecommander Emberthal showing off some of her powerful Evoker magic, before returning to the twin riders. They are joined by the Dragon Queen Alexstrasza, who uses her life-giving magic to revitalize a forest before flying off into the sunset.
There has yet to be a disappointingcinematic trailer inWorld of Warcraft’slong history. Players have been enraptured by the cinematic team’s ability to breathe life intoWorld of Warcraftsince the very first trailer in Vanilla. TheDragonflightlaunch cinematic did a fantastic job of showcasing the atmosphere of adventure, mystery, and dangerWorld of Warcraftseeks to create with the new expansion.
As expected,World of Warcraftfans instantly fell in love with the new cinematic. Players especially enjoyed seeing the comradery between the Alliance and Horde character as they explored the Dragon Isles–further proof thatWorld of Warcraft’slong-running faction war is over. Many players were charmed by theHow To Train Your Dragonvibes they got from the newDragonflighttrailer, and many couldn’t help butcompare Razageth to Vhagar fromHouse of the Dragon.
Though brief, Emberthal’s appearance in the trailer showcased how cool the new dracthyr Evoker race class combo is. Considering her prominence in this trailer andtheDragonflight Legaciesanimated shorts, it seems Emberthal is being set up as a major character, and the faction-neutral representative for the dracthyr. With the second phase of theDragonflightpre-patch now live, players who have purchased the new expansion can log in to create a dracthyr Evoker of their own, and can take to the skies of the Dragon Isles in just a couple of weeks.
