TheWorld of Warcraft: Dragonflightbeta has implemented Dragon Isles Adventuring, the expansion’s alt leveling system. Dragon Isles Adventuring takes aspects of the Threads of Fate system fromShadowlandsand combines them with theDragonflightstory to giveWorld of Warcraftplayers more options while leveling secondary characters.
When players beginDragonflighton their secondary characters, they will be given the option to jump into the Dragon Isles Adventuring system shortly after arriving at the new continent. To begin, players must complete the short introductory questline in Stormwind or Orgrimmar, take a boat or zeppelin to the Dragon Isles, and finish a handful of quests on the Waking Shores. Shortly after reaching the Wingrest Embassy, and completing the “Where is Wrathion?” quest, players will begin the Dragon Isles Adventuring system instead of continuing on the story as usual.

Once players accept the “Adventuring in the Dragon Isles” quest, they will be able to choosewhich of theDragonflightzones to quest through–though they can freely take all four quests and hop areas as they wish. Like many leveling systems inWorld of Warcraft, areas inDragonflightscale with level, allowing players to level where they want, the way they want. World Quests are also unlocked with this system, allowing players to complete extra tasks for extra experience and gear. The Dragonriding system is also account-wide, meaning alt characters will keep all the upgrades and customizations available to their main character.
This new system for leveling alts in the Dragon Isles seems even better thanthe Threads of Fate system inShadowlands. Players could only reliably level inShadowlandsby doing side quests, world quests, and dungeons.Dragonflightgives players the option of doing the main scenario quests as well–an ample source of experience often found around side questing zones. Additionally, players had to complete the Maw scenario in Shadowlands before accessing the Threads of Fate system–a task which took over an hour to complete. On the converse, alts inDragonflightcan unlock Dragon Isles Adventuring in less than 20 minutes.
Players are relieved to seeWorld of Warcraftis making alt leveling easier. As an MMORPG that encourages multiple characters,World of Warcraftallowing its players to level these alts fasteris always a boon. Being able to jump into the system quickly on multiple characters also saves them the headache of repeating content and unlocking features. While the system is certainly far from perfect, the added options for leveling should allow players to get many characters to the new maximum level ofDragonflightwhile avoiding burnout.
