World of Warcraftis teasing not just the upcoming Fractures in Time update, but also the ultimate fate of Nozdormu and the Infinite Dragonflight in a new cinematic. There has been plenty of speculation about the identity of thefinal boss inDragonflight, and from the current storyline direction, only two candidates have emerged worthy: Galakrond and Murozond. The Infinite Dragonflight will play a central role in Fractures of Time, asWorld of Warcraftplayers will tackle a new Megadungeon in Patch 1.0.1.5 centered around the Infinites.

Though the Dragonflights have been steadfast protectors of Azeroth for several millennia, their leadership took heavy casualties during the events inWorld of Warcraft. Out of the five original Aspects, only Nozdormu and Alexstrasza remain. Most recently,Embers of Neltharion crowned a new Black Aspect, but it’s fair to say thatDragonflight’s themes of rejuvenation and legacy are intertwined with a healthy dose of melancholy. Nozdormu’s fate to become Murozond, his own archrival, was always predetermined – and it looks like players finally get to watch that fateful journey unfold.

Titled ‘A Matter of Time,’ the newDragonflightcinematic opens up in Valdrakken as Alexstrasza joins an exhausted Nozdormu, who seems to be deep in rumination. True toWorld of Warcrafttradition, it teases the flagship instance launching with the update, as it sets the stage for theDawn of the Infinite megadungeon, as well as what’s to come after. Though players have already fought against Murozond in End Time, the community is holding out hope that Blizzard will give Nozdormu the grandiose send-off that his character deserves.

Before the plot can pivot towards the Infinite Dragonflight, the Primal Incarnates remain the overarching threat. While Iridikron himself is a boss in the new megadungeon, his defeat would still leave Fyrakk and Vyranoth to confront in the later patches. Following the dull storytelling ofShadowlands, players are very excited to see whereDragonflightwill go. By pulling the narrative back to Azeroth inWorld of Warcraft’s latest expansion, fans have been able to connect with its characters and themes effortlessly.

Ultimately, the Dragon Isles have been a major success forWorld of Warcraft, and have steered the game towards a positive direction it hasn’t seen sinceLegion. In addition to introducing memorable new characters,Dragonflighthas brought old favorites back into the fold, such as Wrathion, Chromie, Alexstrasza, Ebyssian, and even Nozdormu. Though Nozdormu’s destiny to become Murozond is known, it will be exciting to see how Blizzard handles his fall from grace.
