Many fans of the franchise may still have a bad taste in their mouth after the disastrous launch ofWWE 2K20, but things have trended positively thus far forWWE 2K22. Of course, nothing is certain until the game is in the hands of players. From therecent MyGM Showcase and previewsto the snippets of graphics and gameplay, it’s looked good.
Although,WWE 2K22dropped a surprise announcement that few would have guessed today:Machine Gun Kelly has been confirmed to be one ofWWE 2K22’s DLC characters. It’s not all too surprising, as MGK is the executive producer ofWWE 2K22’s soundtrackafter all, but WWE games have hardly ever had non-wrestler characters on the roster all the same.

This opens a wide possibility for the rest ofWWE 2K22’s DLC. Exact details are not known at this time, but there will be a total of five DLC packs, leaving these spots open for a plethora of playable characters. And, while it’s incredibly unlikely, it would be great to seeWWE 2K22add Eminem to the roster.
WWE 2K22: Eminem vs. Machine Gun Kelly
There is at least one reason Eminem would be a greatWWE 2K22character, but at the end of the day, there’s probably one bigger reason he won’t be. The number one reason for Eminem to join the roster would be the focus on rivalries. In MyGM, players can form their own rivalries. There’s no doubt important rivalries will be in the game, and the WWE brand has been home to legendary rivalries over the years: Hulk Hogan and Andre The Giant, Steve Austin and Vince McMahon, The Undertaker and Kane, and Rey Mysterio and Batista.
While “rivalry” may be too harsh a term, it’s hard to separate Machine Gun Kelly from his 2018 Eminem diss, “Rap Devil.” The latter would respond a couple of days later with “Killshot.” This moment in the music industry would be awesome to capture in a game focused on rivalry. Of course, this is just a game, there would be more uses toEminemappearing in it, but it would be awesome for fans to see this particular aspect.
While it would be awesome in terms of cool factor alone, it feels very unlikely. While Machine Gun Kelly has a history with WWE supporting his inclusion in the game, Eminem doesn’t really. There have been rumors Eminem had made some deal with the brand before, but nothing that has ever come to light. Not to mention, without this prior relationship, Eminem’s price tag might just be too much for a celebrityappearance in a WWE game.
Nonetheless, duking it out in a Hell in a Cell match, a TLC match, or a Backstage Brawl as either Eminem or MGK against the other would be fun, nostalgic, and simply epic to those who were involved with the diss tracks in 2018.
