More than 500,000 concurrentXDefiantplayers were present on launch day, and three million players were active in the first 48 hours of launch. AlthoughXDefiantbroke launch records for Ubisoft, the discussion surrounding the state of the game is contested due to lingering issues and bugs.XDefiant’sfirst major updatefixed some of these issues, including problems with hit registration, and reactivated the Practice Zone game mode. More fixes and updates are expected to arrive before the launch of Season 1 later this summer.
Duringthe June 10 Ubisoft Forward event, Ubisoft confirmedXDefiantSeason 1 begins on July 2 and introduces a new faction: the GSK. Alongside the new GSK faction,XDefiantSeason 1 will introduce three new maps over the course of three months: Daytona, Clubhouse, and Rockefeller. What’s more, three new weapons will be added toXDefiantfor free, Ranked Play will make its full debut, and Capture the Flag will be added to the game’s playlist. This new content was teased in the Season 1 reveal trailer, but more details will come shortly before the season begins.
XDefiant Season 1 Announced at Ubisoft Forward
Ubisoft confirmed that the full reveal forXDefiantSeason 1 will happen on July 1 during an episode of “XDebrief” on Ubisoft’s official YouTube channel. The XDebrief episode will unveil new features, the Season 1 Battle Pass, and much more coming toXDefiantthroughout the month of July and beyond. Further, the developers previously confirmed thata killcam feature and Search and Destroy-like mode are coming toXDefiant, so more information on these new additions may come in the near future.
XDefiantis currently in its Preseason, and Ubisoft is expected to release several more fixes leading into the launch of Season 1. These updates could addresssome ofXDefiant’smissing features, improve the game’s weapon balancing, and further enhance the state of the game.

XDefiant is a free-to-play, first-person online arena shooter where you compete in fast-paced clashes. With cross-play available at launch, you will be able to play with friends on a variety of platforms.Season 1 introduces the Team Rainbow operators of GS-Kommando leveraging their counter-terrorism training to disrupt their enemies. They can deploy electrified barbed wire for area denial, counter incoming enemy devices with their Active Defense System, and dazzle multiple foes with flash charges mounted on their G52-Tactical Shield.While GS-Kommando operators pride themselves on using non-lethal force whenever possible, they are as capable on the battlefield as any spec ops group.Customized Loadouts: Choose from a large arsenal of weapons, attachments, and devices to optimize the way you play. Choose any character from any faction to assemble your team of six players. Change your faction at any point during play to adapt to your strategy.Maps, Modes, and Mayhem: Play in a diverse range of 14 maps at launch across several different arena and linear modes including Zone Control, Escort, Occupy, and more.
