Konami unbanned the iconic “Change of Heart” in mid-2022 for the physical TCG after seventeen years, later coming toMaster Duelin February 2023. Several other noteworthy cards from the original era ofYu-Gi-Ohhave also been freed from the banlist in recent years, including “Yata-Garasu” and “Time Seal” among others. The newest change, however, brings a pair ofYu-Gi-Oh’s most powerful early cards back to the game.

Konami officially announced the newest update toYu-Gi-Oh Master Duel’s banlist earlier this week, confirming two cards that would be coming back to the game.Powerful Spell and Trap removal card “Heavy Storm"will finally become widely available within the digital TCG, moving to one copy per deck with the new update. The notorious “Snatch Steal” will also be removed from the banlist entirely, allowing players to run three copies of the Monster-stealing Spell card. The small banlist update forMaster Duelwill launch early next week on July 29.

While the newly announced banlist update toYu-Gi-Oh Master Duelis notably small, it wouldn’t be the first time Konami has only revealed a minor update to the game.Yu-Gi-Oh Master Dueloften features mini-updates to the banlist when releasing prominent cards, typically separate from each month’s main banlist update. Both “Heavy Storm” and “Snatch Steal” are expected to be featured inthe upcoming “The Masters Saga” Selection Pack, launching the same day as the banlist update.

The addition of two ofYu-Gi-Oh’s most powerful old-school cards will join the recent release of multiple prominent themes to the digital card game. July’s main Selection Pack saw the addition of both the “Centur-Ion” cards and the new “Yubel” support pieces, both of which have already made an impact on the game’s competitive meta. The popular “Snake-Eye” theme has also remained dominant withinMaster Duel, boosted by thenew “Fire King” cards added in June’s Selection Pack.Master Duelplayers will soon be able to get their hands on a pair ofYu-Gi-Oh’s most powerful Spell cards.
